- EXID debuted in 2012 with 8 members. The group comprised of trainees scouted by (then) AB Entertainment and producer Shinsadong Tiger. After a rather unnoticed debut, the group decided to split, with members either quitting or moving to who they signed contracts with. Shinsadong Tiger continued with EXID (+2 new members), and the others went on to form BESTie (+1 new member) .
- EXID’s release of “Up & Down” was not well-received when it was released in August 2014, but the group gained massive popularity after a fancam of Hani was uploaded to YouTube in November that year . Having received viral status, they achieved surprising success, with “Up & Down” climbing to the top 10 in the charts and winning several music shows.
- pharkil, the person responsible for the fancam, was formally invited by both the members and producer for dinner, but he turned them down stating, “I’m busy. I have other girl group fancams to record” .
