- KARA is a second generation K-pop group who debuted in 2007. They went through two line-up changes: once in 2008 (-Sunghee, +Hara, +Jiyoung) and again in 2014 (-Jiyoung, -Nicole, +Youngji).
- Youngji was chosen as a member replacement through the 2014 reality show Kara Project. Most of the other contestants went on to form April, a group the company describes as the next generation of KARA.
- Their name is a transliteration of the Greek word χαρά, meaning joy/delight.
- KARA is the most popular K-pop girl group in Japan, surpassing Japanese sales of both Girls’ Generation and T-ara combined .
- KARA announced their disbandment on 15 January 2016. Only Youngji will stay with the company to continue as a solo artist.
