C.I.V.A - Why (2016)
- Members: Kim So Hee (fan tamer), Yoon Chae Kyung (scandal maker), Lee Soo Min (leader, dance machine, main vocalist, variety queen, rap star)
- Music Works’ So Hee and DSP’s Chae Kyung were contestants on music survival show Produce 101 (2016). They peaked 6 and 7 but placed 15 and 16, respectively.
- C.I.V.A is a grouped formed in the mockumentary The God of Music 2 (2016) It follows Lee Sang Min, who tries to create his own music production company LTE. He signs So Hee, Chae Kyung, and Soo Min on a seventeen year contract to take down I.O.I, Korea’s current hottest girl group.
- This song is a remake of DIVA’s “Why (Do You Call Me)” (1998), which Lee Sang Min also produced.
- Some fans consider this the best post-Produce 101 “debut” song, compared to gugudan’s “Wonderland”, DIA’s “On the Road”, and A.DE’s “Strawberry”.
- The group’s name CIVA was originally a play on DIVA, but CIVA sounds like 씨발 (ssibal), meaning “fuck”, which is why it’s censored on the show and song.
- The rap is an I.O.I diss:
Fast LTE, aigo I.O.I C.I.V.A
I.O.I is finished
Fizzle out like 4G
I.O.I NG. C.I.V.A cool
Get married and get out of our way quickly
We are CIVA
Here we have C.I.V.A.
I like I.O.I
