Despite having released three songs previously, this song marks KARD’s official debut.
The group’s name KARD used to be styled with punctuation, i.e., K.A.R.D. This was silently changed before the release of “Hola Hola” and can still be seen on older media.1
There are callbacks to KARD’s older songs: [0:57] “I can’t get enough of it (Oh NaNaNa)” from “Oh NaNa” (MMM 2016-12-19), [1:57] the hand groove dance move from “RUMOR” (MMM 2017-04-24), and [2:22] the arm behind the head move from “Don’t Recall” ([FMF 2017-02-17]).
There is no callout to the letter D, unlike their previous songs with “It’s K”, “Ayy”, and “R you for real?”. The D likely just infers their Debut.
Each member has a different role matching the group’s name: King, Ace, and JokeR. The D stands for hiDden, reserved for surprising fans with something each release (a featured artist in “Oh NaNA”, an English version of “Don’t Recall”, and an extra music video for “RUMOR” with their dance instructor). In the end, the hidden card represents the fans themselves. KARD’s official fan club name was revealed to be “Hidden KARD”.2
